Because I haven’t been able to cross off “Take A Knife Skills Class” from my bucket list, I rely on my mini-food chopper for one of the most time consuming (and annoying) parts of food prep — chopping, dicing, and mincing. Yes, I have a 12-cup food processor and yes, I begged my husband Dan to buy it for me for our first wedding anniversary in 2008 (I admit not my smartest ask) and yes, I did insist that I needed it. Yet at the time I post this, 7 years later, I have yet to use it. To my defense, any appliance that comes with its own “DVD User Manual” is intimidating. But not my mini food processor!
Since purchasing my mini food processor I no longer suffer from weepy eyes (and runny mascara) from dicing onions. Nor do I have hand cramps from chopping carrots into small pieces. Thanks to my mini food processor I can also make 2 batches (4 cups) of my family’s favorite Caesar Salad Dressing in a pinch and spare my Vitamix and its 8 cup container — somehow things seem to incorporate better when mixed in the appropriate sized vessel. Not only does my mini food chopper save me valuable time and energy in the kitchen but it is easy to clean and store (ahem, unlike my 12-cup food processor).
The mini food chopper purees and chops food quickly. It is ideal for chopping vegetables, nuts, and cheese into small, fine and even pieces for any recipe. I have even decreased food waste when using my chopper to turn day old whole wheat hot dog and hamburger buns into homemade breadcrumbs…have you ever tried freezing hamburger and hot dog buns…yuck!
With the mini food processor the possibilities are endless. I can entertain friends and family with ease. I can make awesome guacamole when people stop by unexpectedly because all I have to do is throw some chunks of red onion, garlic cloves, and jalapeños along with lime juice into the chopper and voilá it’s ready to be mixed with avocados for an easy appetizer. My Green Light Chicken Salad can be made simply by dicing the celery and pickles in the mini processor as well. Chopping onions for my Italian Style Meatballs is no longer a chore and I can double the recipe so I can freeze the leftovers.
You get the hint. It is perfect for everyday use…I literally use it every day. It is definitely a chopping powerhouse. In a nutshell what makes this a “Favorite Find” is the following; it doesn’t take up much room, it is simple to use, and easy to handle all while saving me precious time and energy. You won’t be disappointed and you will never chop vegetables by hand again or cringe when a recipe requires finely chopped food.
For now I will leave “Taking A Knife skills Class” on my bucket list but I will always keep using my mini-food processor.
